Specify how much water will be used in conjunction with the operation,andthe source of this water;
Water is required dust control on the CR1 and on-site roads. Water will be purchased from Parkville Water
District, from their customer hydrant located at 1401 Harrison Street.
Off-Site Water:
Dust control will primarily occur during the summer and fall months, and any other time roads are dry
enough to cause dust. Water combine with calcium chloride is proposed to control dust on the
approximate 1.8-mile gravel portion CR1. 1.8-miles of 18ft-wide road results in about 19,400yd2 of surface
area.
2 applications per season are anticipated. An initial application of 11b CaC12/yd2 (9.7 tons CaC12) will be
applied in early summer, or when the permit and the CUP have been approved. Thereafter, the
application will be 0.4/lb/yd2(3.9 tons CaC12). CaC12 will be applied as 34%solution,or 41b CaC12 per gallon
water. Initial application will require 4,850 gallons of water. Subsequent applications will require 1,940
gallons of water. In between CaC12 applications the road will be sprayed with water as required at a rate
of 50 gallons per 100 lineal feet of road.
Water will be sprayed by a conventional tandem water truck.
On-Site Water:
On site roads will be sprayed as required with water at a rate of 50 gallons per 100 lineal feet. 1 application
per 10-hr shift is anticipated. For the 1.5 years (during Penn 1 Mine operations) the maximum haul road
distance will be about 800ft, or 400 gallons per application. During Penn 2 and 3 operations (starting
about year 1.5, maximum haul distance will be 1,900ft. At 50 gallons per 100 ft. water requirement will
be a maximum of 950 gallons.
Given the small disturbance area, road watering may be performed with a ATV hauling a 200-gallon tank.
This tank will be filled from an on-site 5,000-gallon water tank which will be filled by the CR1 water trucks.
Initial Application / March 2021 4-6
