May 5, 2021 C-2010-089/New Horizon North Mine JHB
Pond 1 is damp but not holding water. The perennial grasses on the north inslope (south facing slope are
beginning to recover after the extended dry conditions in 2020. No rilling or gully formation was observed on the
inslopes,or ditch inlets to Pond 1. Pond 1 remains in good condition.
Ditches throughout the mine site are holding up well with no obvious signs of undercutting, sediment deposition or
other requirements for maintenance.
Pond 2 was dry as well.
RECLAMATION SUCCESS-Rule 4.15,Rule 3:
The Irrigated pasture was green and appeared that it had been regularly irrigated. The center-pivot
sprinkler was operating at the time of the inspection, but it appeared that only the outer three booms were
operating. The irrigated pasture is composed of an alfalfa grass mix. The alfalfa was looking healthy and several
inches tall(-6"to 8"). No bare or dead patches were noted within the field.
The dryland pastures adjacent to the irrigated pasture are showing the lack of natural moisture. Dryland pasture
plants are present, but the dryland areas could benefit from more precipitation.
TOPSOIL—Rule 4.06
Removal 4.06.2; Substitute Materials 4.06.4(4); Storage and Protection 4.06.3;Redistribution 4.06.4:
The operator used some of the topsoil stockpile to level the low spot on the NW side of the Irrigated
Pasture field.
