Wade confirmed that GCC had
broadcast seeded additional seed for cover on the thinner vegetative cover location on the north side of the pile last
fall. Due to the limited moisture and cool temperatures, sprouting of the seed was hard to discern at this time. The
operator continues to clean up dead juniper and pinyon pine trees in the locale. Some branches and trees adjacent
and on part of the topsoil stockpile are still in the process of being removed.
A localized patch(approximately 10 ft. diameter)of leafy spurge was encountered in the ditch on the north side of
the topsoil stockpile. Leafy spurge is B list Colorado State Noxious weed. This is the first instance the inspector
had encountered this species in the area or on the mine site. Wade stated that GCC would spray this as soon as
practicable. Since Leafy spurge spreads by underground rhizomes, spraying is preferred to mechanical control.
DOCUMENTS RECEIVED : GCC personnel provided an unofficial copy of Map King II-00xx,TR30 for
review of the ranch road detail
OTHER(SPECIFY) NA
ENFORCEMENT ACTIONS/COMPLIANCE
No enforcement actions were initiated as a result of this inspection, nor are any pending.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 7
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 4
Page 4 of 7
