Bureau of Land Management Environmental Assessment
Royal Gorge Field Office DOI-BLM-CO-F020-2019-0056 EA
all heavy equipment removed once re-grading/re-contouring is complete. All product material
would be removed prior to initiating final reclamation. The Phase 2 highwall/bench
configuration would recontoured to a final slope of 3:1. The gate would be removed along with
any fence type features. The entrance and access road would be regraded and recontoured
followed by ripping/scarifying and reseeding. All stormwater structures would be backfilled with
any overburden material and recontoured, as needed. The topsoil stormwater berms would be
pulled down and spread to an approximate thickness of 2 to 4 inches throughout both phases with
thickness depending on available topsoil. A native seed mixture would be applied by a
broadcasting or drilling seed method. The operator would supply BLM with a seed mixture once
final reclamation is initiated from the NRCS for approval. A fertilizer would be applied if the
seed has a difficult time establishing within the natural soil and only after seed germination is
determined. If erosion is a consistent issue, soil stabilization would be necessary and consist of
either straw or geotextiles. The operator would amend any reclamation requirements, if
necessary.
14
