5/26/2006 The Division proposed to approve the permit transfer to BTU Empire Corporation. <br /> 2/14/2007 The Division proposes to approve with conditions Permit Renewal 4 (RN4). <br /> 5/22/2009 The Division issues aproposed decision to approve with conditions RN5. <br /> 1/25/2010 The Division approves arevision to change the name from the Eagle <br /> Mine Complex to the Williams Fork Mines. <br /> 8/4/2010 Surety Release No. 2 (SL2) was withdrawn. SL2 was for release of <br /> liability for subsidence impacts for lands overlying underground workings. <br /> 3/18/2011 The Division approves a revision to change the operator from BTU <br /> Empire Corporation to Moffat County Mining, LLC. <br /> 7/10/2015 The Division issued MCM a permit for another 5 year permit term (RN6) <br /> 10/2/2015 MR54 issued for the cleanup of the solid waste dump site. <br /> 1/17/2017 TR37 was approved that modified the revegetation success sampling methods <br /> and procedures. <br /> 5/2/2017 DRMS approved a surety reduction request at the site (SRO I) <br /> 1/29/2018 DRMS approved the transfer of coal stockpiled from the Williams Fork Mines to <br /> the Foidel Creek Mine. <br /> 12/15/2018 The Division issued MCM a permit for another 5 year permit term(RN7) <br /> Current Operational Status <br /> Currently, only maintenance,reclamation and hydrologic monitoring activities are being conducted. The <br /> Williams Fork Mines consist of three underground mines, the Nos. 5, 6, and 9 Mines, and reclaimed <br /> surface mines known as the Williams Fork Strip Pit No. 2 and Utah Tract. The No. 5 portal was <br /> permanently sealed in 1997 and partially backfilled. The coal storage area, surface conveyors, silos and <br /> No. 5 yard and warehouse area has been reclaimed. The Mine No. 5A portals were temporarily sealed in <br /> 2003 to prevent public access and is currently undergoing backfilling and grading. The 5A portal ventilation <br /> fan was removed. The Eagle No. 9 Mine permanently ceased mining activities in 1985. The portal area <br /> of the No. 9 Mine was being used for a coal processing waste pile, and was reclaimed in 2009. <br /> In anticipation of the resumption of mining operations Moffat County Mining, LLC (MCM) pumped water <br /> out of the No. 5 Mine workings. Water was pumped through ponds 5-P5, 5-P6 and 5-P7 (in sequence), <br /> and discharged into the Williams Fork River. The discharge point(at Pond 5-P7), is an NPDES discharge <br /> point (NPDES 003), and is monitored as per Exhibit 29 for various NPDES parameters. Pumping is no <br /> longer occurring as mining has ceased and the mine is in reclamation. The No. 5 mine workings have been <br /> reclaimed and mining will not resume. <br /> MCM did complete some reclamation and demolition in the spring of 2008. The buildings that were <br /> demolished included the compressor house, old shop, Oaky Plaza well shop, No. 9 warehouse, B&S <br /> shop, bathhouse, Guard shack and fence, lab trailer and sample building, well house by B&S shop, little <br /> shed south of Wise Hill portal, old carpenter shop and contractor staging area, old (AML) mine site, rock <br /> dust tank #1 and rock dust tank Q.
