Material to be blasted down from the west highwall into the pit may be sold and removed from the pit,
or may be left as backfill in the bottom of the pit,to transition from highwall to floor.
Backfilling waste rock on the floor and fines on the benches can be done at toe of slopes to flatten wall
slopes and create gently sloping bench areas on the west highwall and pit floor.
If the Pit Lake remains as a permanent feature, its total surface will be 0.7 acres or less. All margins of
the final pond will have slopes that will comply with Rule 3.1.5(7). No swimming is planned for this
pond.
Topsoil or growth medium will be placed on upper benches on West highwall area.
Slope reduction by drilling and blasting: 2,000 CY @ $2.00/CY.
Pushing and rough grading shot rock: 1,000 CY @ $1.00/CY.
Placing and spreading waste rock and fines on benches: 1,000 CY @ $1.00/CY
Seeding benches and unmined margins: 2.1 ac @ $1,000/ac.
MQEW-1 (East Highwall)
Currently, overburden above the ore body has been stripped to expose the ore body, which will be
mined in benches down to the pond level. Attaining final bench and wall slopes will be by mining the
ore body down. The overburden slope in the upper portion of this area is at or near their final
reclamation gradient, and no further reclamation earthwork on this part is contemplated. Final
reclamation of the lower part of this area, by mining in benches, will not commence until mining in the
West highwall area is completed. Reclamation will occur as mining proceeds.
The plan is to start extraction by drilling and blasting from the top of the ore body (which is located
halfway down the East highwall where the ore body has been exposed) advancing down to the pit floor,
and create the walls and benches as mining progresses. Material removal will occur in response to
demand.
The same wall and bench configuration described above for the West Highwall will be used in this area.
Backfilling on the floor and benches can be done at toe of slopes with waste rock and fines to flatten
wall slopes and create gently sloping bench areas on the east highwall and pit floor.
If the Pit Lake remains as a permanent feature, its total surface will be 0.7 acres or less (as stated under
West highwall, above).
Topsoil or growth medium will be placed on upper benches on East highwall area.
Slope reduction by drilling and blasting: 1,700 CY @ $2.00/CY.
Pushing and rough grading shot rock: 1,000 CY @ $1.00/CY.
Placing and spreading waste rock and fines on benches: 1,000 CY @ $1.00/CY
Seeding benches, overburden slope, and unmined margins: 1.6 ac @ $1,000/ac.
IMC-1 Quarry
This pre-law pit has not been mined under this permit, but has been backfilled as part of the final
reclamation of the permit. Backfilling has been completed, and the area is ready for grading and final
reclamation.
Final grading: D8 or equiv., 6 hrs @ $100.00/hr.
Seedbed prep: D8 w/ripper, 3 hrs @$100.00/hr.
Seeding: 1.3 ac @ $1,000/ac.
