EXHIBIT D MINING PLAN
The property boundary has been surveyed on site and the permit area will be surveyed prior to
any site disturbance. Exhibit C contains all mining plan maps.
The gravel zone is approximately 30 feet thick in an alluvial deposit and is overlain by soil
ranging from 0-44 inches and overburden ranging from 0-16 inches. The gravel is recent
alluvium of the Quaternary Age, in the old floodplain of the Yampa River. The bedrock
underlying the gravel is Lewis Shale. Mining will occur to the top of the shale since there are no
known issues with selenium in the Lewis Shale.
1. Mining Methods and Earthmoving
Operations at Bunn Ranch Pit consist of excavation of sand and gravel for processing into
construction materials products. Processing facilities can be found in the central portion of the
site, extending from the site entrance southwards to the Yampa River. These processing facilities
include plants for crushing, screening, washing of rack, asphalt production, and concrete
production. Stockpiles of material for processing and sale are also located in this processing area.
At the site entrance is an office building, a truck scale, and scale house. Mining will be
conducted via loader, dozer, and haul truck.
Mining will progress through the site from west to east. The topsoil and overburden from a new
area will be used to reclaim the previous area. This will reduce material moving as well as reduce
the maximum area to be reclaimed. Any fines from the crushing/screening operation will also be
salvaged and used in the reclamation.
No more than 1500' of highwall requiring backfilling will be in place at any time. Mining slopes
will be to 2H:1 V.
2. Water Diversion and Impoundments
No impoundments of water are within the Bunn Ranch Pit. Numerous unsealed groundwater
lakes can be found where mining has been completed. During mining of an active pit, dewatering
is conducted to create a dry mining area. This dewatering is conducted using pumps located
Bunn Ranch Pit
D-1
January 2021 c.tkxx aed nsccace,e.t c
