Lorencito Canvon Notice of Intent Amendment
Additional Comment:
Our consultant Arcadis U.S., Inc. (Arcadis) senior staff archaeologist, Dulaney Barclay conducted a
formal records search of the entire project area through the Colorado Office of Archaeology and
Historic Preservation (OAHP) on September 25, 2020. The records search wasperformed to locate
previously recorded cultural resources and investigations at or near the sixteen proposed core hole
locations.
The Lorencito Canyon area was surveyed in the late 1990s (1996-1997) by Metcalf Archaeological
Consultants and again in 2001 by Greystone Environmental Consultants. As a result of these surveys
roughly 250 cultural resources were documented. A majority of the cultural resources documented
are prehistoric in age with some notable historic resources recorded (Weston to Tercio Wagon Road,
Colorado and Wyoming Railroad Grade). Of the roughly 250 resources documented, approximately
half have been officially evaluated for the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) by the
OAHP. A majority have been determined tobe not eligible for listing in the NRHP. Several require
additional information before a determination can be made. Only a few have been determined to be
eligible for listing in the NRHP including a prehistoric quarry site, Native American ceremonial
sites, and a segment of the Colorado and Wyoming Railroad Grade. Roughly the other half of the
sites in the Lorencito project area has a "field recommendation" which is the opinion of the investigator
on NRHP eligibility. These resources do not currently have an official determination of eligibility
from theOAHP. All 16 proposed core drill hole locations are identified to be outside of the areas of
potential concern and therefore no impacts to cultural sites will not occur.
9. Have reclamation costs been included with this Notice to assist in determining theamount of
Performance Bond Required.
Table 4 Estimated Direct Cost Bonding Requirements shows the calculation of the Direct Cost
for the Performance Bond. The direct reclamation cost for the entire project is estimated to be about
$45,000. Table 5 Estimated Total Bonding Requirements shows the calculation of the
Performance Bond including mobilization, job superintendent, profit, engineering, and management.
The total reclamation cost for the entire project is estimated to be about $78,000.
The following assumptions were used for the bonding requirements below: Reclamation of
each mud pit is $200.00
Regrading each pad is $288.00
Reseeding each pad is $22.00
Regrading New Roads is $0.16 per foot of linear disturbanceRe seeding
New Roads is $0.09 per foot of linear disturbance
Sealing and Plugging Holes is $3.62 per foot of hole depth
Mobilization to each location is $500.00
14
2020 Exploration Program 2/11/2021
