12. Groundwater(6.3.3.(i)):Without irrigation of the permit area, the high levels of groundwater(12-24
inches below surface in the Molas soil) are expected to recede and therefore, groundwater is not
expected to be exposed in the excavation. The storm water system will collect and convey runoff
which does not immediately infiltrate to various detention basins and to the retention basin in the
southwest corner of the permit area, where it will infiltrate and recharge ground water. There are
no recorded wells within 2,000 feet in all directions.
13. Compliance with water law(6.3.3.(j)): As discussed in items 11 and 12 above,
14. Refuse/acid/toxic materials(6.3.3.(k)): No refuse, acid-producing, or hazardous
chemicals/substances are expected to be exposed during mining operations. All fuel, lubricant,
coolant, and similar materials used by equipment on the Pit shall be stored with secondary
containment, and in accordance with the CAS spill response plan.
15. Waste (6.3.3.(k)): Solid waste generated on-site will be disposed of at a permitted landfill. This
includes any petroleum-contaminated soil from releases or leaks. The site may accept clean fill
(earth, crushed Portland cement concrete, cured asphaltic cement concrete, and rock)to process for
aggregates and/or use for beneficial fill to achieve final grade. The site may accept logging debris
(wood waste) to use as mulch/soil amendment in reclamation.
16. Hydrologic balance (6.3.3.(1)): Based on review of the terrain, water rights, irrigation, wells, and
related information, the Pit is expected to have very minor impacts on the water balance in the
immediate area or downstream on the Piedra River.
17. Prevention of off-site damage (6.3.3.(1)):The terrain, combined with the shallow nature of the
proposed mining, and setbacks of 200 feet or more from significant manmade structures and terrain
features, there is no significant potential for off-site damage to infrastructure, buildings and other
structures, or users of those features.
18. Stability of terrain (6.3.3.(1)): As with item 17 above, slopes of 2H:1V or flatter are not expected to
create problems with stability of the land within or outside the permit area. The roadway of Taylor
Lane is of particular interest, and protected by the 200-foot setback of the main permit area from
the road (170 feet from the county right-of-way boundary).
19. Processing on-site (6.4.4.(m)): As discussed above, materials will be processed (crushed, screened,
and possibly washed) on-site using portable plants located and operating intermittently on-site,with
no permanent structures. No chemicals will be used. Plants will be permitted in accordance with
Colorado air quality and other regulations.
20. Primary products(6.3.3.(n)): aggregates (sand and gravel)and borrow material (earth)for use as
construction materials.
21. Secondary products(6.3.3.(n)): no secondary products are anticipated.
22. Incidental products (6.3.3.(o)): no incidental products are anticipated.
23. Explosives(drilling and blasting) (6.3.3.(p)): no drilling and blasting will be conducted at the Pit.
Toner Ranch Pit 110c Application Exhibits Page 8 of 20
