(Cont'd.) <br />(3) (a) (iii) (Cont'd.) <br />For a detailed description of the protection <br />to water users, refer to Section 7_.05.6(3)(a)- <br />(ii). <br />In the event that protection of [he quantity <br />of surface and groundwater fails, CW; believes <br />repair of most hydrologic sources in the per- <br />mit and adjacent area is technologically and <br />economically feasible. :1oreuver, CW; has pre- <br />pared a water replacement plan for the drain- <br />age basins mentioned above. <br />;n general, water replacement plans include: <br />1) Replacement of adverserly affected surface <br />or groundwater with CW; owned water; <br />2) ;mprovement of water transportation systems <br />[o increase usable flow; and, <br />3) Miscellaneous water augmentation such as <br />• increased storage, vegetation manipulation, <br />and watershed improvements. <br />Please refer to the Water Replacement Appendi- <br />ces in Volumes 5 and SP, for water replacement <br />plans within specific drainage basins. <br />(.iv) The intake and exhaust ventilation shafts and <br />the portal have been in place at the Orchard <br />Vallev Mine since 1976. These facilities and <br />the Orchard Valley '.'est Nine wera located, de- <br />signed, constructed, and are utilized so as to <br />prevent or control gravity discharge of water <br />from the mini as required by 4.05.10. Protec- <br />tion is also afforded by [he natural down dip <br />of Che coal seam away from [he portal en- <br />trance, [hereby preventing gravity discharge <br />of mine drainage. Ventilation shafts con- <br />structed in the future would also be located, <br />designed and constructed so as Co prevent or <br />control gravity discharge of water from Che <br />mine. <br />.
