to water users, refer to Section 7_.05.6(3)(a)-
(ii).
In the event that protection of [he quantity
of surface and groundwater fails, CW; believes
repair of most hydrologic sources in the per-
mit and adjacent area is technologically and
economically feasible. :1oreuver, CW; has pre-
pared a water replacement plan for the drain-
age basins mentioned above.
;n general, water replacement plans include:
1) Replacement of adverserly affected surface
or groundwater with CW; owned water;
2) ;mprovement of water transportation systems
[o increase usable flow; and,
3) Miscellaneous water augmentation such as
• increased storage, vegetation manipulation,
and watershed improvements.
Please refer to the Water Replacement Appendi-
ces in Volumes 5 and SP, for water replacement
plans within specific drainage basins.
(.iv) The intake and exhaust ventilation shafts and
the portal have been in place at the Orchard
Vallev Mine since 1976. These facilities and
the Orchard Valley '.'est Nine wera located, de-
signed, constructed, and are utilized so as to
prevent or control gravity discharge of water
from the mini as required by 4.05.10. Protec-
tion is also afforded by [he natural down dip
of Che coal seam away from [he portal en-
trance, [hereby preventing gravity discharge
of mine drainage. Ventilation shafts con-
structed in the future would also be located,
designed and constructed so as Co prevent or
control gravity discharge of water from Che
mine.
