8. Groundwater
Groundwater is located at least 80 inches below the surface of the ground onsite. This consists of
the local San Luis Valley aquifer and the larger, deeper Rio Grande aquifer. The nearest
approved well is permit number 222585 ()which is located southwest of the permit area. Well
10292(https:Hdwr.state.co.us/Tools/WellPermits/9107884)
httt)s://dwr.state.co.us/Tools/WellPermits/0456944htti)s://dwr.state.co.us/Tools/WeliPermits/045
6944is the next closest,to the south(visible on Map C-2). A water level well located
approximately one mile southwest of the permit area
(https://dwr.state.co.us/Tools/Groundwater/WaterLevels/32107)indicates that the water table in
1980 was at a depth of approximately 8 feet, which would indicate the local San Luis Valley
alluvial aquifer.
8.1 Groundwater—Mining
Mining activity will not expose groundwater. If any ground water is encountered, excavation will
cease and the affected area will be back filled with four feet of overburden.
Mystic Soil
November 2020 G'6 c.f[P ICNKkt and.15.M+x lall PI.{.1
