and seeding with the seed mix found in Table E-3. For industrial/commercial areas within the
pits, a portion of the reclaimed area will be fields for recreation made with artificial turf. For
industrial/commercial areas within the soil storage area, the ground will be covered with a six-
inch thick gravel layer screened from material onsite. Topsoil will be stored into the temporary
stockpile area as shown on Map C-2 for rangeland reclamation.
2.1 Topsoil and Overburden Handling
It is not anticipated that any topsoil will need to be imported for the reclamation process, even at
the point of greatest disturbance. The soil profile is such that sufficient topsoil will always be
available to topsoil all required areas to rangeland. Topsoil stripped during mining and not
required for reclamation will either be sold or stored in the temporary stockpile area. Topsoil and
overburden will be maintained in separate stockpiles in the temporary stockpile area. Table E-2
outlines the topsoil material balance calculations during reclamation and during the greatest
disturbance area scenario. Topsoil stripping and replacement volumes are based on a 12 inches
depth of topsoil. Table E-2 details the volumes produced form the Soil Storage Area and Pits 1-4.
Table E-2.Topsoil and Overburden Material Balances During Reclamation
GeneratedMaterial Material Required Note
-
clamation (Cy)2
Mining(CY)'
Soil Storage i i All topsoil stripped from Soil Storage Area will be
Area, retained and used in reclamation of the Soil Storage
Topsoil 75,988 75,988 Area
Pits 1-4, All Four Pits will be converted to Recreational Filed
Topsoil with Artificial Turf, therefore no topsoil will be
110,997 0 required during reclamation.
Pits 1-4,Soil i Calculated assuming an excavation depth of six total
Product 554,987 i 0 feet, one foot of topsoil and five feet of soil product.
Soil Product Total mined material available for sale.
Site Wide
(includes
Topsoil and
Soil Product) 665,984 0
'Topsoil and overburden stripped during mining.Based on soil survey thicknesses and area mining experience.
'Topsoil or overburden needed to reclaim disturbed areas in said scenario.
As demonstrated in Table E-2, topsoil generated by stripping will be more than enough to
successfully reclaim all disturbed areas in the greatest disturbance area scenario.
Mystic Soil
November 2020 E-2 c arickia .t.ri t x
