13 October 2020 C-1981-010/Trapper Mine RAR
Lactuca serriola (prickly lettuce), Crisidium Arvense and Carduus nutans thistles (Canada and
Musk, respectively), Thlaspi arvense (pennycress), Bassia scoparia (kochia), and Bromus
tectorum (cheat grass) most notable in the more recently reclaimed (2019) parcels, LAB 19 and
FAB 19.
Photo 7: Dense stands of perennial grasses were observed.
Photo 8: Overview of reclamation in parcels LAB18 and
LAB19, with recently repaired drainage corridors prominent.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 3
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 1
o Parcels reclaimed in 2017 and
2018 had significantly fewer
weeds and a more diverse
vegetation community comprised
of perennial grasses, fortis and
strong shrub counts; such as
Medicago sativa (alfalfa),
Astragalus cicer (Cicer vetch),
Elymus cinereus (Basin wildrye),
various Agropyron
(wheatgrasses), Bromus
marginatus (Mountain brome), ),
Achillea millefolium (Western
yarrow), Linum lewisii (Lewis
flax), various Artemisia (sages)
and Chrysothamnus
(Rabbitbrushes).
Overall and based solely on a
visual inspection, species
diversity appeared adequate, and
reflected the permitted seed
mixtures. No areas of problems
are called out in this report. An
analysis of the vegetation species
diversity and cover data provided
by TMI will be undertaken by
DRMS and issued in the
forthcoming findings document
o The cover on Phase I areas
appeared adequate with the
exception of sparse areas noted.
Slopes appeared stable although
some minor rills were evident.
o Vegetation, although dormant at
this time of year, noted in the
Phase I reclamation consisted of
shrubs, perennials and grasses
apropos to the seed mixes
included in the application.
o Phase II slopes appeared stable
at time of inspection with no
observed evidence of gullies,
scarps, slumps or slides except
where noted.
