Azurite,Inc.
OCI 2-7 2 10001 CR 12 P.O. Box 338
Cotopaxi, Colorado 81223
' 719-942-4178
October 21, 2020
Tim Cazier, PE, Environmental Protection Specialist
Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety
1313 Sherman Street Rm 215
Denver, CO 80203
RE: Spotted Burro Pit—File No. M-1979-192;
Response to Preliminary Adequacy Review Amendment 1 (AM-1)
APPLICATION
After consultation with you and consideration of future land use preference, the applicant
has decided to retain the proposed post-mining land use designation as rangeland rather
than the original wildlife habitat. A letter from the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Division
is included in this mailing that states that the operation, in their assessment, will have
minimal impact to the wildlife in the area given that a reclamation plan is executed in a
thoughtful manner. CPWD also recommends following NRCS guidelines for species to
use for reclamation efforts. The mine operator will continue to work with the local
NRCS office in selecting appropriate grass and forb species for use in final reclamation.
The applicant feels that Rangeland designation for post-mining land use is the best post-
mining land usee due to the fact that the area under permit has increased eight-fold since
the original permit was issued and all of the lands added to the original 10 acre parcel
were used as rangeland and will continue to be used as such after mining. Therefore,
Item 12 on page 4 of the Application will remain as submitted.
6.4 SPECIFIC EXHIBIT REQUIREMENTS—REGULAR 112 OPERATIONS
6.4.1 EXHIBIT A—Legal Description
1. Please find included in this mailing a corrected copy of Exhibit A - Legal
Description noting 87.5 acres.
