11) (Optional) Please provide additional information about the Reclamation Plan:
Area affected is currently un-reclaimed and previously disturbed ground. We will fill all cuts, pits or
trenches we create with larger rocks first, then a mixture of topsoil and smaller rocks, capping it with
topsoil only for future re-seeding. Since this ground was un-reclaimed when we found it,we are willing
to work with the BLM & DRMS to leave it better than we found it.
We are also willing to reclaim and reseed the old "access" road that was used during prior mining
operations in the past, at our labor and expense. We are not responsible for the condition of this access
road, but we want to leave the site in a better condition than we found it. The cost of the seed for this
has already been added into the reclamation cost. UPDATE: BLM has stated that they do not wish us to
reclaim 0.10 acres of this access road at this time-We would like to leave this number in our numbers in
case that changes
Unnecessary and undue degradation will be minimized by utilizing erosion preventative measures such
as weed-free hay bales placed on the edge of the granite cliff and around the top soil pile we create
when we segregate the waste rock and other materials from the topsoil. This will assist during
winterization and as an added safety issue! Straw bales will be taken apart at the end of the mining
operation and used as mulch for the reseeding process.
We try to do "reclamation in process"whenever and wherever possible and have already done so in a
few small areas. We re-mulch and overseed all soil storage areas annually to try and improve soil
conditions for final reclamation. There is no REAL topsoil on the barren ridge. Each year, more sand
comes down from the cliffs above the claim. By mixing organic material we find while mining(IE: roots
from trees that burned in the 50's, dead branches and trees, certified weed-free straw)with the "sandy
soil", pre-existing mine tailings, and rich pocket earth/clay that we find within the fault. This "mixture"
is better than what little actual "topsoil" is present. Please note that 75%of all areas within and outside
of the claim boundary that are NOT on a slope, are crypto-biotic soils, which we take great care to
protect, but using only existing routes at all times!
Reclamation-in-process will be used on along all single-track trails by seeding trail edges with native
grass & bush seeds. That will allow a seed bank to form and the trail will overgrow without use.
