(OSMI)received your letter dated June 12, 2020 regarding the Division
of Reclamation Mining and Safety's (DRMS)adequacy review of Technical Revision 11 (TR-
11)to the Section I I2d Designated Mining Operation(DMO)Permit No. M-2012-32. On July
13, 2020, OSMI received DRMS's second Adequacy Review letter regarding additional details
required for bond calculations. The following letter provides responses to each of the items
DRMS has identified in its June 12 and July 13 letters. Supporting documentation is provided in
the attachments.
We have organized the letter by DRMS's comments, which are restated in italic font followed by
OSMI's response in regular font.
1. DRMS Comment:Section 2.2 Pilot Passive Treatment Materials Placement
The volumes provided on Page 5 do not add up to the total volume stated on Page 6 of the
revision. Approximately 29 Cubic Yards of material is listed on Page 5, however Page 6 states
25 Cubic Yards of material. Please clarify the total volume of material to be removed from the
Pilot Passive Treatment Containers. Also, when updating the Reclamation Plan please clam
the final placement location of that material.
OSMI Response: The volumes of materials listed on page 5 equal the total capacity of each
stage of the treatment system (which has total capacity of approximately 29 cubic yards). The
volume of treatment materials used during the pilot testing phase was approximately 25 cubic
yards, as listed on page 6. The discrepancy is the difference between the volume of the treatment
system tanks and containers and the volume of treatment media that was placed in each tank and
or container.
Phone: (970)325-9830 ♦ Fax: (970)325-9824
