3) Midway Project Area: This project is located 80 feet below the Ridgetop Project Area and is
primarily a preexisting tailing pile. Sampling indicates high copper content that is in the state of decay.
This area has also been hit very hard by rock hounds in previous years. We already established a safety
ledge and added additional signage on this to keep people out. It is out intent to sort and remove all of
the Amethyst, Fluorite and Copper material from this pile. It will be sorted and moved west. We intend
to add mulch (via weed-free straw bales)and the DRMS approved native grass&bush seeds to establish
a seed bank within this debris. This soil maybe needed during Ridgetop Project Area reclaimation and
it is our intent to creative topsoil that is conductive to vegetation growth. This project area will be
deemed complete when all existing tailings have been sorted and contoured to prevent erosion. That
way if it is NOT needed during any project area(s) reclaimation(s), it is stable and has seeds started!
The Area of Disturbance for the Midway Project area is also it's rock/dirt storage area—since this will
just be sorted and shifted west.
It will be necessary to add the preexisting trails at this point too, both from the Ridgetop Project and
Siberia Project Areas. It is our intent to also perform reclaimation-in-process along these trails by
seeding trail edges to establish a seed bank so native grasses will overtake the trail when usage drops.
Midway Project Area Usage: 0.08 acres, which break down to...
Area of Disturbance=0.07
Existing Access trails=0.01
This is the end of Phase Two! This is the point we would like to transition to within the next 30-60 days.
The BLM has already approved our modification to the Plan of Operations and is awaiting recalculation
of our current bond by the DRMS to finish the NEPA process. Any other phases from here forward will
be part of the next Major Modifications that will be done with the BLM and our Plan of Operations.
Phase Three consists of 1 project area.
4)Connector Project Area—This may be needed as part of the Ridgetop Project Area. Preexisting debris
in this zone constantly falls and blocks the preexisting Midway Portal, which is fitted with non-a
removeable bat grate. The falling debris blocks this portal from being used by any bats. It is our intent
(if necessary, for safety and stability)to remove the debris from above this portal. We intend to sort it
and stack it to the side(and not above)the existing portal in in tier-like fashion (using existing boulders
and landscape)to stabilize and prevent erosion. The area directly above the portal will then be utilized
by the Ridgetop Project Area,or stabilized to prevent future debris from falling down in the entrance of
the Midway portal
The entrance of the portal will be cleared, sorted, and stacked with material in the Midway Project Area.
This Phase will happen AFTER the Midway Project is complete, but because of overlap with time and
reclaimation,we intend to add this area to hold for use as needed during operations.
