Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mining Company Exhibit D Cresson Project Amendment 13 1
1 INTRODUCTION
This updated mining plan presents the changes to the Cresson Project mining operations under this Amendment 13. The mining plan also provides the following:
1. a description of the affected lands boundary; 2. a description of the areas specifically affected by this Amendment 13, 3. the nature and sequence of mining activities including a generalized schedule and sequence for the proposed operations, and 4. a description of the facilities developed at the mine site.
This mine plan was prepared in accordance with the Colorado Department of Reclamation Mining and Safety (DRMS) requirements; specifically, Rule 6.4.4 of the Mineral Rules and Regulations
of the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board for Hard Rock, Metal, and Designated Mining
Operations.
1.1 Overview of Amendment 13 Activities
The following modifications are being implemented under this amendment:
1. Modification to backfilling sequence for Schist Island Mine Area due to construction of Phase 3 of the Valley Leach Facility 2 (VLF2);
2. Use of OSAs and other material for structural backfill in the Schist Island pit to prepare the surface for construction of VLF2 Phase 3;
3. Addition of run of mine (ROM) material handling and direct haul to VLF2 after lime/cement addition; and
4. Use of Overburden Storage Areas (OSAs) as a resource.

It is proposed, under this amendment, to modify the Schist Island mine area and Squaw Gulch Overburden Storage Area (SGOSA) to accommodate expansion of VLF2. This expansion is herein defined as VLF2 Phase 3. The expansion adds approximately 8 million square feet (184 acres) of lined area to VLF2 and increases the ore capacity by approximately 118 million tons. Construction details and sequencing are described in the Valley Leach Facility 2 Phase 3 Detailed
Design Report which is provided as Appendix 1 to this Amendment 13 permit application.
In general, mining will continue as approved in prior permitting actions. Portions of the Schist Island mine area, once mined out, will be back filled with waste rock from pits, material from existing OSAs, or spent leach material to prep the surface for construction of the VLF2 Phase 3 liner system. The re-use of spent leach material that has been verified as containing less than 0.2 milligrams per liter (mg/l) weak acid dissociable cyanide (WAD CN) was approved under Amendment 8.
