[Type text]
r STRONG MINING COMPANY
JOHN E STRONG 1505 EAST 12 RIFLE CO 970-625-0777
Attention Amy Yeldell 6/15/20
Colorado state mining safety
And reclamation
Here is our proposed reclamation plan for the Apex Lode mining project. Permit# M-
2014-011
Phase 1 (summer of 2019 during normal operating season from July 1 to September 31)
to be closure of upper portal using the PUF method provided in the Colorado Division,
mining, and Safety 2009 General bid specifications hand book. Please see attached.
The upper portal is approximately 8' wide x 5' tall and will require 18 bags of
Equipment-less foam sealant (EFS) from foam concepts. 18 bags of EFS = 6 cubic yards
of expanded foam.
After PUF closure is complete railroad tracks to be removed and hauled down to a local
recycling plant. There is approximately 30' feet of 2"track. And I can't see any visible
evidence of ties, however if we find some, we will dispose of them as we will the
timbers.
Lower portal
Remove timber protective structure at mouth if portal and portal door. All timbers from
structure to be hauled down and disposed of at either K& K lumber in Silt or Strong
Lumber in Rifle. There will be approximately 1000 Bd Ft of non-native mine crib.
Then close lower portal by using either the same PUF method, listed above. Or gating—
grating and locking portal entrance using plan# 6 or 7 of the Colorado Division, mining
and safety 2009 general bid specifications hand book. Please see attached. The portal is
approximately 5' wide x 6' tall. So will use 14 bags of EFS = 4.2 yards of EFS.
Then remove board walk from staging area to the lower portal and timbers that are now
being stored in the staging area. The timbers and lumber to be hauled down and disposed
of at K& K lumber in silt or Strong lumber in Rifle. There is approximately 800 bd ft of
material
At some point in mid -September we will hand scarify trail from storage area to upper
portal and lower portal to 4" deep and re-seed at the rate of 25 lbs per acre Via USFS
botanist recommendations. Then hand raked in. Please see seed mixture and broadcast
rates attached. This is approximately 1000 square feet.
