WWL spent the next several hours locating and marking the other manholes along the
retort pipeline. All of the manholes located on Logan Wash Road are buried under the road. A metal
detector was used to identify manhole locations. MH-14 was uncovered by hand excavating, opened
and checked for the presence of sediment and sludge. Good, unrestricted flow was observed at MH-14
(this was at approximately 1:00 PM). By the time the remaining manholes were located at 3:30 PM,
retort water was flowing freely to the Lower Manhole (NIFI-2) and the Evaporation Pond Facility.
Because flow was re-established to the Pond,no further investigations or maintenance were conducted.
WWL will submit the results of the soil sample analytical data, once received from the laboratory. At
that time, the need for soil remediation will be evaluated.
Should you have any questions, please contact me at(970)242-0170.
Sincerely,
/ Nl 2X2Z-- k
Bruce D.
