Introduction
The Hayden Gravel Pit is located just south of US Highway 40 approximately 2.2 miles east of
Hayden, Colorado. The Hayden Gravel Pit has been mined since 1987. The site has had a
number of owners over time with the current owner being United Companies. The final land use
will be cropland and grazing lands. The purpose of this amendment is to expand the permit area
to include the access road from the gravel pit to US Highway 6/40 and to include and address the
reclamation of the truck scale.
The topography within the permit area slopes gently down toward the northeast and is perched
on an alluvial terrace. The disturbed area for the Hayden Gravel Pit was 78.4 acres, and includes
all of the mining area, berms, and roads. 44.7 acres has been reclaimed in the western half of the
site in the area formerly known as the Camilletti Pit. This amendment will add 8.3 acres to the
permit area in order to include the access road from the Pit to Highway 6/40 and the scale house.
The permit and affected area boundary is shown on Map C-1 and will be 103.2 acres. This upper
terrace to be mined has historically been used for hay meadow. This hay meadow land use does
not use irrigation. No land use identified on site uses irrigation.
The permittee for this site is United Companies which has leases in place with Connell
Resources and CWH Properties. Via these leases, United has right of entry to all portions of the
property, including the Camilletti site and permission to mine sand and gravel on state land board
land.
The site will be reclaimed to a land use of hay meadows and dryland pasture. The topography of
the reclaimed land is shown on Map F-1. All maps are found in Appendix 5.
Hayden Gravel Pit i_1 tx•. k,anJ 1s.oa iatc PI LC
May 2020 -
