The current SWSP is good through October 2020, with an extension available for up to two
additional one-year periods.
Based on both the local water commissioner stance and the approved SWSP, Brannan will
expose groundwater as needed at the Trout Valley Ranch within the limits of its decreed water
rights and approved water supply plans. If these decrees and plans are revised or amended at a
later date, the mining and reclamation activities will adjust to match.
1.1.2 Dust Control
Water needed for dust control has been calculated for the SWSP at roughly 11.85 acre-ft a year.
This is covered by a water contract in the currently approved SWSP.
1.1.3 Processing Water
Water needed for processing has been calculated to be roughly 5.52 acre-ft a year. This is
covered by a water contract in the currently approved SWSP.
1.1.4 First Fill
Whenever a portion of a groundwater aquifer is extracted, the volume of the material removed is
filled with water from the surrounding aquifer. This is known as first fill. This water
consumptive use does not occur on a fixed schedule; it is dependent on when additional material
is removed from below the groundwater table. This water will be accounted for in all future
DWR approvals for the site, as it is now.
1.1.S DewaterinQ
As part of pond maintenance and construction, any dewatering will take place under an approved
water supply regime (SWSP or decree) and with an approved process water discharge permit in
place from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment(CDPHE).
1_2 Water Quality
The express purpose of the recirculation pond is to remove sediment from the wash plant water
output so that said water can be reused in the wash plant. Therefore, the recirculation pond must
be of sufficient size to allow for effective settling. The proposed pond will accomplish that goal.
Additionally, by using a large and deep pond, the sediment that drops out will not be at risk to
leave the site via an unauthorized discharge. All sediment will remain onsite throughout the life
of Trout Valley Ranch and is consistent with approved reclamation plans. There is no discharge
associated with stormwater from the mining areas; only the site access road needs, and has, a
stormwater discharge point and permit.'
The capture of all sediment within the site ensures the protection of the prevailing hydrologic
balance with regards to water quality.
Colo.Dept.of Public Health and Environment Permit#COG502146
Trout Valley Ranch TR
May 2020 3 t:n,;I.cwicki anA Associates,PI.1.('
