4. Vegetation
The vegetation on site is the typical rangeland grasses for this area. Cover is estimated to be
between 30-40%.
5. Wildlife
Forage and cover for wildlife is very limited due to the arid climate. Small animals (jackrabbits,
coyote, various rodents) make use of the surrounding environment. No known endangered or
critical species are present. Impacts to wildlife will be mitigated through a weed management
plan and reseeding the rangeland with a diverse seed mix.
6. Structures
Structures are shown on Map E-1. A list of structures within 200 feet of the permit area can be
found in Exhibit L. Structure agreements have been attempted with all structure owners. Copies
of certified mail receipts for these agreements can be found in Exhibit L. The structures will
remain unchanged throughout mining and reclamation.
7. Soils
The United States Department of Agriculture soil map is included in Appendix 1. The 9.5 acre
site is roughly located in the center of an area of 136.4 acres that is delineated on this map as the
area of interest. The area of interest delineated in the soil report is in two soil types:
• Gunbarrel loamy sand, saline (98.8%of area of interest). The Gunbarrel is poorly
drained, has a 0 to 1%slope,with a runoff class of very high. It is not classified as prime
farmland. The depth to a restrictive feature is more than 80 inches.
• Mosca loamy sand, 0 tp 3 percent slopes (1.2%of area of interest).
The entire area to be disturbed during mining consists of Gunbarrel loamy sand soil type
(number 31).
Hooper Pit B-2
April 2020 (.reg I cwicli and Associates.PI,I.('
