1))i Loveland Ready-Mix Concrete, Inc.
NW 0 ter M1974-069 April 6, 2020
L OVELAN D Inspection Report Status Update; additional backfill is not required to meet
the intent of the Reclamation Plan.
R EADYMIX Cell/Pits 5 and 6
CONCRETE1. Cells 5 and 6 operated as silt settling ponds up until the completion of Cell 20.
No further activity is planned for these mining cells.
2. Cell 5 was identified for augmentation under W-7412 with a projected final
PO BOX 299 water surface area of 3.39 acres. The current exposed area of 2.75 is less than
LOVELAND, CO 80539 allowed so no backfilling of this cell is required.
3. Cell 6 was identified for augmentation under W-7412 with a projected final
OFFICE 970.667.2680 water surface area of 2.27 acres. Cell 6 is essentially silted in with some limited
FAX 970.667.0092 water exposure around the perimeter trenching so no backfilling of this cell is
required.
4. The Task Costs 10, 11, 13, and 14 provided in the Division's March 24th, 2020
Inspection Report Status Update account for additional topsoil and
revegetation in Cells 5 and 6 that will be sufficient to insure these areas are
reclaimed to meet the overall strategy and intent of the Reclamation Plan.
Augmentation of Exposed Water Surfaces
1. Water loss from evaporative depletions for all mining cells with exposed water
surfaces both within the permit boundary and in mining cells previously
released from the mining permit boundary are covered either as pre 1980
mining or in the State approved augmentation plans 00CW142 and W-7412.
2. 00CW142 acknowledges that mining operations are ongoing at the Larimer
Pits. Paragraph 14.3.1 allows for"Up to 52.29 acres of ground water surface
area were, or will be, exposed to the atmosphere by mining the Larimer Pits
13,14,15,18, and 20 resulting in net evaporation averaging 109.24 acre-feet
per year".The attached Figure 1, prepared by BBA Water Consultants, shows
the exposed surface area for all exposed water in Cells 13, 14, 15, 18, and 20,
that are augmented under 00CW142. Their respective areas are as follows:
Cell/Pit No. Area Exposed Status
Water Surface
13 15.5 acres Reclaimed and released
14 13.5 acres Backfilling/Reclaiming
15 5.9 acres Reclaimed and released
18 0.3 acres Substantially reclaimed
20 8.5 acres Reclaiming
Total Exposed 43.7 acres Less than 52.29 allowed
3. The current Well Permit 69035-F allows for"an additional 12.02 acres to be
exposed at the Larimer Pit within pond nos. 18 and 20." It also references the
total surface area of the gravel pit ground water pond nos. 13, 14, 15, 18, and
20 limited to 52.29 acres exposed.
31
