Ponds C, F, and J held <br /> significant water,but it was well below the spillways in each pond.No problems were identified with <br /> embankments, spillways, or other features of the ponds. At Curve#8,the water diversion gate was set to divert <br /> water to Pond C. <br /> PROCESSING WASTE/COAL MINE WASTE PILES—Rule 4.10 and 4.11 <br /> Drainage Control; Surface Stabilization; Placement: <br /> No problems were seen with gob piles. The sediment control BMPs below Gob Pile#2 appeared to be <br /> functioning well;this includes the"smart ditch"at that location. <br /> During the inspection, Basil Bear spoke of BRL's plan for Gob Pile#3 in 2020. This includes salvaging a strip of <br /> subsoil between two sides of the pile. This strip currently contains rock and grass and acts as a temporary ditch <br /> because it is lower than the gob material on either side. In this same area, Culvert J9 may be removed temporarily. <br /> The underdrain below Gob Pile#3 appeared to be functioning. A small drip was exiting the pipe at the low end. <br /> ROADS—Rule 4.03 <br /> Construction 4.03.1(3)/4.03.2(3),Drainage 4.03.1(4)/4.03.2(4), Surfacing and Maintenance4.03.1(5) and <br /> (6)/4.03.2(5) and(6), Reclamation 4.03.1(7)/4.03.2(7): <br /> No problems were seen with the haul road or the hillsides above and below the haul road,many of which <br /> are very steep. In particular, the hillside above Curve 8, which is armored with boulders, is stable. <br /> REVEGETATION—Rule 4.15 <br /> Vegetative Cover; Timing: <br /> Many thistle rosettes were seen on the hillside above Pond F. This area will need attention when BRL <br /> resumes weed spraying in 2020. <br /> SLIDES and DAMAGE -Rule 4.12: <br /> It appears that slumps have not moved significantly in the recent past. These include slumps by the B <br /> Portal and by Curve Number 11 along the Haul Road. <br /> SUPPORT FACILITIES - Rule 4.04: <br /> Berms were found to be functional at the Utility Bench, the D Portal Bench,the B Portal bench,the Coal <br /> Stockpile Pad, and the Material Storage areas. <br /> No problems were identified at the facility areas. <br /> Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 8 <br /> Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 3 <br /> Page 3 of 11 <br />
