Basil Bear of Wolverine Fuels
(parent company of Bowie Resources, LLC, aka BRL)participated in the field inspection and was present for the
records check in the BRL office.
The weather was cool and cloudy, and the ground was muddy. Snow and mud precluded driving to the Terror
Creek vent shaft.
BRL staff had conducted ditch maintenance (sediment removal) on the site in recent days before the inspection
(e.g., Ditch F7). The day of the inspection,they were cleaning out the office at the D Portal, including the burning
of old personnel files.
AVAILABILITY OF RECORDS—Rule 5.02.4(1):
The records were found to be very well organized and complete.
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE -Rule 4.05
Drainage Control 4.05.1,4.05.2,4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5,4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, 4.05.10;
Diversions 4.05.4; Effluent Limits 4.05.2; Ground Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Surface Water Monitoring 4.05.13;
Drainage—Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8; Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18:
Culvert C5 (D Portal area)was clear at the downstream end, and approximately 3 gpm of water was
flowing out of it. The upper end of this culvert was not observed directly,but there was no sign of overtopping of
the berm at the up-gradient portion of this pad. Culvert C 11 (east of Gob Pile#3 and the soil piles)was clear on
the downstream end.
No problems were seen with ditches. In particular,the ditch above Curve#8 (appears to be Ditch C 10 on the
maps) and the ditch near Gob Pile#2 that was recently reconstructed(Ditch F4)were stable.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 8
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 3
Page 2 of 11
