2017 and 2018, for production. The operator collected a minimum of 30 production quadrats both
years on the dryland reference area to allow for a reverse null calculation.
Dryland pasture BRB for 2017 measured live vegetative cover of 25.0%. Noxious weed cover
accounted for 1.1% and annual/biennial vegetative cover accounted for 1.43%. Desirable perennial
cover mean for the DP3 parcel in 2017 was 22.5%. Live vegetative cover on the Dryland Reference
area in 2017 was 23.07%. Adjusted for noxious weed cover(0.17%), and annual/biennial cover
(0.07%), the desirable perennial cover was 22.83% for 2017. The cover success standard requires
establishment of vegetative cover to be 90% of that established on the reference area. Ninety percent
of the 2017 Dryland Pasture reference area equals 20.5% cover. The reclaimed Dryland Pasture DP3
parcel exceeded 90% of the Dryland Pasture reference area for 2017.
Dryland pasture BRB for 2018 measured live vegetative cover of 15.2%. Noxious weed cover
accounted for 0.03% and annual/biennial vegetative cover accounted for 0.1%. Desirable perennial
cover mean for the DP3 parcel in 2018 was 15.07%. Live vegetative cover on the Dryland Reference
area in 2018 was 15.17%. No noxious weed species or annual/biennial species were encountered in
the sampling effort. The cover success standard requires establishment of vegetative cover to be 90%
of that established on the reference area. Ninety percent of the 2018 Dryland Pasture reference area
equals 13.65% cover. The reclaimed Dryland Pasture DP3 parcel exceeded 90% of the Dryland
Pasture reference area for 2018.
Herbaceous productivity on Dryland pasture DP3 for 2017 measured 770.9 pounds per acre.
Adjusting for annual/biennial species, and noxious weeds desirable perennial productivity for the
DP3 parcel in 2017 was 739.8 pounds per acre. Herbaceous productivity on the Dryland Reference
area in 2017 was 501.3 pounds per acre. Adjusted for noxious weeds and annual/biennials, the
desirable perennial productivity was 311.9 for 2017. The reclaimed Dryland Pasture DP3 parcel
exceeded 90% of the Dryland Pasture reference area for 2017 for herbaceous productivity.
Herbaceous productivity on Dryland pasture DP3 for 2018 measured 306.0 pounds per acre.
Adjusting for annual/biennial species, and noxious weeds desirable perennial productivity for the
DP3 parcel in 2018 was 235.4 pounds per acre. This significant difference between production from
2017 to 2018 may be explained by a significant reduction in average annual precipitation between
2017 and 2018. Herbaceous productivity on the Dryland Reference area in 2018 was 144.4 pounds
per acre. Adjusted for noxious weeds and annual/biennials, the desirable perennial productivity was
124.2 for 2018. The reclaimed Dryland Pasture DP3 parcel exceeded the Dryland Pasture reference
area for 2018 for herbaceous productivity.
The Diversity standard for both the Irrigated Pasture BRB and the Dryland Pasture BRB states that,
"revegetation will be deemed adequate if at least 75% of the relative production is comprised of the
seeded species or species of comparable quality as livestock forage."
Permit Number C1981-008:SL22 Page 14 of 17
