MINING PLAN (coNT) EXHIBIT D <br /> September 2019 <br /> line . The areas to be added are : the north side 1 . 66 acres, <br /> south side 1 . 99 acres and 12 . 0 acres that is the Sand Arroyo #2 <br /> Pit . This brings the total permit area to 67 . 65 acres ± . <br /> LOCATION <br /> This is an open pit mine located approximately 4 miles west <br /> of Walsenburg, Colorado north of State Highway 160 . From Denver <br /> take I-25 south to the HWY 160 exit at Walsenburg. Then follow <br /> HWY 160 west thru town for 6 . 5 miles until reaching the private <br /> drive accessing the mine . Mining access will be via this <br /> existing road owned by the landowner of property access . The <br /> adjoining concrete plant operation uses it to access their plant <br /> from HWY 160 . It is currently 25 feet wide and in the location <br /> as shown on the map exhibits supplied with this application. <br /> Periodic grading will be necessary to keep the road in its <br /> present condition and will remain after mining is complete . The <br /> coordinates of the mine entrance are 37035109 . 4111N, <br /> 104053110 . 36 "W. <br /> The mine straddles Sand Arroyo that is an ephemeral drainage <br /> lying in an east/west direction across the property. When water <br /> flows thru this dry creek bed it flows from west to east . Please <br /> refer to Exhibit B - Vicinity Map for the property configuration and <br /> the relationships to surrounding geological features . <br /> CURRENT CONDITIONS <br /> MapExhibitC shows the outline of the Affected Lands; the <br /> touching landowners; the 200 foot ownership; structures ; current <br /> topography, and hydrologic features of the property. Mining <br /> started on this site in 1940 and has taken place for almost 79 <br /> years . Most of the mining takes place in the banks of the <br /> channel , The sand is used for concrete and asphalt production. <br /> A screen plant is onsite to remove larger particles or rock, <br /> clay balls and vegetation that are returned to the excavated area <br /> for burial . A portion of the land was mined, under a M.L .R.B . 111 <br /> permit (M-2017-019) , on the south side . <br /> Surrounding property uses include rangeland on all sides <br /> except in the southeast area when the landowners have leased an <br /> area of their property to Custer County Concrete for a batch <br /> plant operation, truck parking and storage area. A portion of <br /> their lease area is included in the permit area as shown on the <br /> updated Map Exhibits . This area will remain undisturbed except <br /> 7 (REVISED 3/6/2020) <br />
