MINING PLAN (coNT) EXHIBIT D
September 2019
depth of mining to the amount described. On the upland area
the depth of suitable material varies from 3 to 20 feet deep
averaging 10 feet . Below the usable material is a grey shale
like rock not suitable for use as construction material .
(e) The major components of the mining operation are limited to
the access roads into the pit area, the mining roads, the
mining areas and a water reclamation basin where water used for
washing is returned to the ground water table . With this sur-
face operation there will be no underground openings such as
adits or ventilation facilities . Mining equipment may include
but is not limited to, front-end loaders, scrapers , bulldozers,
and dump trucks . Processing equipment may include but is not
limited to conveyors, crushers and screen plants .
(f) The dimensions of any significant disturbances to the land
surface will be limited to pit excavations and the plant growth
media stockpiled on the north and south pit . There will be no
mine benches, impoundments, stockpiles, or waste rock disposal
areas . The current bond allows for a maximum of 25 . 0 acres to
be reclaimed at any-one-time . Currently, there is 12 .4± acres
disturbed in the new permit area and 17 . 94 acres that have been
mined and graded in the channel waiting for the next flood to
refill . This area includes the disturbed area in the 111
permit area . This maximum disturbance plan is adequate to
cover all of the lands currently disturbed in the existing
permits .
(g) There are two existing access roads to the mine . The
eastern access is a old shared property access road as evi-
denced by correspondence in the files revealing its existence
since approximately 1950 . The southern road is a private drive
that serves the surrounding property owned by the Vezzani' s .
It provides access to the mine and the Concrete Batching Opera-
tion as well as their land surrounding the permit area. No
improvements will be made to these roads so they have not been
included as part of the permitted acreage in the past . There
will be no associated drainage or runoff conveyance structures .
(h) The Walsenburg Sand and Gravel Co. has a well permit on the
property that provides the minor amount of water needed for the
9 (REVISED 3/6/2020)
