O'BRIAN 303-423-7297
PRESIDENT \ FAX 303-423-7599
March 6, 2020
Mr Patrick Lennberg RECEIVED
Division of Reclamation, Mining & Safety
1313 Sherman St., Suite 215 MAR 0 6 2020
Denver, CO 80215
DIVISION"OF RECLAMATION
MINING AND SAFETY
Dear Patrick;
RE: The Walsenburg Sand and Gravel Company - Sand Arroyo Pit - M-1978-283
Preliminary Adequacy Response 01
On behalf of my client The Walsenburg Sand and Gravel Company, I am responding
to your adequacy review letter dated December 9, 2019. I have included your review
points that need to be addressed in the order presented in this cover letter so the
questions and answers will be in the same document for easy future reference.
During this response I found a mistake on all of the maps that showed the water
flow area is in the wrong location on the east side of the mine. I had it comming into the
processing area when it should have been on the northern side of the settling pond. The
channel to the east is narrower where it enters the mine site and then spreads out wider
where WSG has mined on the western part of the Permit area. The Plant Ssite and the
concrete plant areas are on a level above the floor of the Arroyo not down in the old
channel. I fixed this on all of the maps and because the Plant site and Concrete Plant
areas were on area used prior to permitting. I show that area as being graded only since
there was no soil saved when mining began in that area.
EXHIBIT C - Pre-mining and Mining Plan Map (s) of Affected Lands (Rule
6 .4 .3)
1 . Please update the maps, including the Reclamation Plan Map, to
label the 200 foot distance from the permit boundary.
