1100318 R0T0 0811 JRW1 35
of the station location relative to the Pikeview Quarry and plots of the data from this gage. A
comparison of Mountain Shadows Evergreen Rain gage data was made with data collected
from a rain gage installed at the site as part of this investigation at Pikeview Quarry. The site
gage was read at relatively regular intervals.
The comparison indicates that generally, the Mountain Shadows Evergreen Rain gage data has
recorded more frequent daily rainfall than the site gage. Comparison of the Mountain Shadows
Evergreen Rain gage data and the groundwater levels is contained in Appendix 44. The
comparison indicates a rapid response of the Area H piezometers and P-1 to rainfall and decay
at variable rates of groundwater levels with time. Drilling at P-1 encountered voids consistent
with dissolution voids in the limestone; the intermittent measurement of water at this location is
consistent with the rise of water in the piezometer from rain events and relatively fast, though
not instantaneous, draining of water through the now interconnected voids and more permeable
underlying sandstone.
5.2.7 Surface Topography
A topographic survey of Pikeview Quarry was performed as part of Exponent’s investigation.
The survey included performing a photogrammetric survey of the quarry and measuring surface
elevations at various locations, including but not limited to, drilling locations. The survey data
accurately reflects the condition of the quarry at the time of Exponents investigation. Based on
review of conditions observed during Exponent’s inspection and documented in photographs
contained in Appendix 3, Appendix 6, and Appendix 8, the ground surface conditions in the
topographic survey accurately reflect the conditions of Area H and the quarry west wall on
December 2, 2008 with two exceptions. The exceptions are the access ramps on the easterly
side of Area H and the grading at the north and northeast end of the quarry. This grading was
performed, in part, to permit equipment access after December 2, 2008. The topographic
survey, spot elevations, and aerial photograph are contained in Appendix 46.
