1100318 R0T0 0811 JRW1 5 <br />Curriculum vitae of Jon Wren, Ph.D., P.E. and Philip J. Shaller, Ph.D are contained in <br />Appendix 1. A list of cases for which Drs. Wren and Shaller provided expert testimony at trial <br />or by deposition within the past four years is contained in Appendix 2. Dr. Wren’s hourly <br />billing rate is $295 per hour. Dr. Shaller’s hourly billing rate is $225 per hour. Photographs <br />taken by Exponent during its investigation are contained in Appendix 3. <br />2.2 Site Description and Background <br />Pikeview Quarry is an aggregate quarry that operates under Colorado Division of Reclamation, <br />Mining and Safety (DRMS) permit number M-1977-211 issued on May 27, 1980. The quarry <br />has a permitted area of 236 acres and has been in operation since approximately the early <br />1900’s. The quarry extracts Manitou Formation limestone by drilling and blasting on the lower <br />portion of an approximately 1,500 foot high ridge that forms a part of the eastern front of the <br />Rampart Range. Operations occur on the slope in an elevation range of approximately 7,000 <br />feet to 7,900 feet. The top of the west wall of the quarry intersects three peaks that are <br />commonly referred to as the north peak, middle peak, and south peak. <br />Photograph 1 shows an aerial view of the Pikeview Quarry in 1998; Appendix 4 contains aerial <br />photography from 1998.
