This material is <br /> excess cut from construction projects throughout the greater Colorado Springs area, and the rate <br /> material is imported to the quarry will depend on future construction projects. As discussed above, <br /> all the material necessary to reclaim the quarry is available onsite, and as fill material is imported, <br /> the volume of material needed to be excavated onsite will be reduced. Imported material will be <br /> stockpiled on the quarry floor so that CMC can control the placement and compaction of the <br /> backfill materials. Only clean fill will be accepted, and loads containing trash and other deleterious <br /> materials have been and will continue to be rejected prior to dumping. Similarly, coarse-grained <br /> material (>50% retained on No. 200 sieve) is preferred over fine-grained material (>50% passes <br /> No. 200 sieve), and fine-grained material will either be rejected or mixed with other granular <br /> materials available onsite. CMC expects there to be sufficient material imported to the quarry to <br /> complete the backfilling within five years; however, additional grading of the "Lower Borrow Area" <br /> may be required to supplement the imported fill. CMC will submit a Technical Revision if additional <br /> grading is required. <br /> CMC is currently negotiating with the City of Colorado Springs and private companies to develop <br /> the property adjacent to the mine. Regardless of the development type, all or nearly all of the <br /> imported material necessary for reclaiming the mine can be provided by this development with <br /> the costs to deliver the material to the existing quarry stockpile area burdened by the developer. <br /> Temporary haul roads on the face of the fill slope will be used to transport material from the <br /> loading areas to the fill areas. The exact location of access and haul roads are not shown on the <br /> figures at this time as this level of detail will be based on field observations during the execution <br /> of the Plan. As these roads are required, CMC will submit a Technical Revision to incorporate <br /> new facilities showing the location and size (width and length) of each road into the Mining Plan. <br /> The roads will all be constructed within previously disturbed areas. <br /> The acreage and cut and fill volumes for each area are included in Table D-2. <br /> Pikeview Quarry Amendment 4 <br /> D-5 <br />
