If the <br /> emergency involves strictly site personnel, Human Resources will be contacted and act as IC <br /> for low-level emergencies. <br /> (g) Secure scene while discussions takes place. <br /> (h) Use force only when absolutely necessary and to an extent proportional to the threat. Do not <br /> violate the rights of individuals while exercising the right to exercise freedom of association <br /> and peaceful assembly. <br /> (i) If the event moves from low to medium level, the IC duties transfers to senior Security <br /> personnel. <br /> Q) During medium and high-level emergencies, the IC warns those involved to leave property or <br /> authorities will be called (The SRT Leader will be kept informed of events on an ongoing <br /> basis and approves action requesting external authorities to respond to the scene). <br /> (k) When authorities arrive they assume IC responsibility with Security acting in support. <br /> 5.12.4.4 Emergency Response Team: <br /> (a) If on scene prior to Security, ensure that they have been notified. Tell them whether the <br /> distraught person is armed, how many people are involved in the situation, and if anyone is <br /> injured. <br /> (b) If on scene prior to Security, advise and direct them to the location. <br /> (c) Isolate the site and evacuate as many people as possible. <br /> (d) Wait for help to arrive. <br /> (e) Position to a staging area where the ERT will be safe, while being able to response promptly. <br /> 5.12.4.5 Pre-Event Information: <br /> (a) Persons receiving information regarding a potential civil disturbance shall pass this <br /> information directly and immediately (same working shift or sooner), to the manager of the <br /> area potentially affected by the disturbance and to Security Manger or his designate. <br /> (b) The Security Manager, upon receiving this information shall prepare contingency plans in <br /> direct consultation with the Area manager potentially affected as well as with External Affairs <br /> personnel. <br /> (c) The Security Manager will brief his immediate supervisor as well as the site Manager of any <br /> potential medium or high-level emergency situations. <br /> 5.13 Fires <br /> 5.13.1 Any type of fire on the mine site (within the fenced boundary) lasting more than 30 <br /> minutes from discovery must be immediately reported to the HSLP Manager. <br /> (a) In the event of fire outside the mine property that places the mine downwind in the smoke <br /> plume, employees must be evacuated. <br /> (b) The HSLP Manager must be immediately notified if this occurs. <br /> 5.13.2 Mine Structure/Surface Fires: When you discover a structure fire, follow these procedures. <br /> 5.13.2.1 Controllable Fires: <br /> (a) Call for help and attempt to put it out. Use the fire extinguisher located in your area.
