Standard OperatingProcedure <br /> NEWMONT <br /> HeavyEquipment fueling <br /> Mine Operations <br /> 5.6.3 Monitor changing weather conditions to fuel equipment before a weather <br /> event. <br /> 5.6.4 Disable fuel island auto assignments whenever a fuel truck will be in the <br /> work area to limit the number of haul trucks going to the fuel island. <br /> 6.0 Hazard Recognition <br /> 6.1 DEF Fluid is utilized at the fuel island. Follow all safety and health hazards and <br /> handling procedures associated with this fluid. <br /> 6.2 Know how to access SIDS documents. <br /> 6.3 Arrange hoses to eliminate tripping hazards. <br /> 6.4 Heavy equipment with pressurized fueling system shall have working vent <br /> system on fuel tank at time of refueling. Should the vents fail to shut off when fuel <br /> tank is full, personnel shall notify their supervisor immediately so repairs can be <br /> made before equipment is released back to service. <br /> 6.5 Liner system shall be kept in good working order at all times. Any damage to the <br /> liner system must be immediately reported to supervisor and to the S&ER group <br /> for action. <br /> 6.6 No open flames or smoking is permitted within 50 feet of the fuel island area. <br /> 6.7 Roadways and path ways shall be kept clear of obstructions, debris, standing <br /> water, snow, ice or spilled liquids. <br /> 6.8 All catwalks, stairs, walkways, and handrails shall be kept clean and in defect <br /> free conditions. <br /> 6.9 Safety warning indicators, signs and other devices shall be kept in good working <br /> order at all times. <br /> 6.10 Fueling should only be done with provided connections. <br /> 7.0 Contamination Control <br /> 7.1 All hoses on the ground must be put away after use and have caps in place on <br /> the end of the hose if equipped with them. If caps are missing, get them replaced <br /> immediately. <br /> 7.2 Fueling nozzles shall be kept clean at all times. It is not permitted to allow fuel <br /> nozzles to contact the ground. Provided lint free cloths will be used to clean the <br /> inside of fuel nozzle. <br /> 7.3 Wiggins will be clean before connecting fueling nozzles to any equipment. <br /> Provided lint free cloths will be used to clean receivers if they are dirty.
