Rernediation and Monitoring Measures • <br /> NEWMONT Cyanide Spills • • Releases <br /> Sustainability and External Relations <br /> 1 PURPOSE <br /> Outline the process and response required during and after a spill or release of cyanide or a <br /> cyanide related product. The outlined document ensures adequate containment, removal, <br /> remediation and disposal of any contaminated material that has the potential to cause impacts to <br /> human health and/or the environment. <br /> 2 SCOPE <br /> This document provides a risk assessed step by step procedure for undertaking the task of safely <br /> remediating and monitor cyanide spill and release. This document outlines the step by step <br /> actions required to perform the task of sampling cyanide affected soil, sample dispatching and <br /> determining when remediation of the affected area can proceed. This document may be used <br /> independently or in conjunction with the Cripple Creek and Victor(CC&V) Emergency Response <br /> Plan (ERP). <br /> This procedure is applicable to spills/releases of all sizes, however should be read in conjunction <br /> with the ERP for spills/releases which are considered emergencies and/or trigger Mine Rescue <br /> Team (MRT) response. <br /> 3 OBJECTIVES <br /> To effectively communicate the steps involved in the cleanup and remediation of any size <br /> spill/release of cyanide or cyanide related product, and provide guidance to the Sustainability and <br /> External Relations (SER) staff. <br /> 4 RESPONSIBILITIES <br /> Role Responsibility <br /> General Manager • Provide adequate resources to enable personnel to respond remove and <br /> dispose of spills/releases. <br /> Departmental • Communicate requirements of this procedure and as Directed by MRT <br /> Managers and SER to all relevant personnel. <br /> All Personnel • Control, contain, clean up and report all spills/releases to their Work <br /> Area Supervisor. <br /> r---------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------7------- --------------------•-------------------------------; <br /> Department THIS DOCUMENT IS UNCONTROLLED IN HARDCOPY FORMAT Doc Id:NA-CCV-SER-SOP 2196 <br /> SER Date of This Issue: 9/28/2017 Date of Next ReAevr 9/28/2020 Page 1 of 10 <br />
