Individual oil storage facilities descriptions
follow the detailed requirements of 40 CFR Part 112 in terms of quantity stored/used, potential spill volume,spill
prevention and control procedures,spill countermeasures,security,visual inspections, integrity testing,and
conformance with other laws or regulations. Facility Tables provides an inventory of oil containing products stored
and used at the Cresson Project. Individual process reagents, explosive agents, refinery wastes, lime, and
laboratory chemical descriptions follow a slightly different outline for facility descriptions, although many of the
same elements as for oil products do apply.
The categories of chemicals described in the following sections include:
• Petroleum Products;
• Ammonium Nitrate, Emulsion,and ANFO;
• Process Reagents for Beneficiation;
• Lime;and
• Laboratory Chemicals.
Petroleum-Based Products(fuel,lubricants)and Antifreeze
Fuels,oils, and antifreeze are stored in tanks,totes, and drums in several locations on the property. Refer to
Figures 3-9 for referenced locations of bulk storage areas.
Ironclad Warehouse and New Truck Shop(NTS)(Figure 3 and Table 3a and Table 3b)—The Ironclad Warehouse
stores used oil, lubricants, and hydraulic oil are stored in aboveground storage tanks(ASTs) in an interior area
constructed to contain the products; antifreeze is stored in an above ground tank just outside the oil storage room;
used oil and used antifreeze are stored in totes or drums on the shop floor; and propane are stored in ASTs outside
the building.The NTS stores lubricants, hydraulic oil,antifreeze,and used oil are stored in ASTs in an interior area
constructed to contain the products;small quantities of used oil, used antifreeze,and varieties of petroleum-based
lubricants are stored in totes, large drip pans or drums, on the Truck Shop floor.
Midway Fuel Farm(MFF)(Figure 4 and Table 4)-diesel fuel,gasoline,fuel additives, motor oil, antifreeze,and
hydraulic oils are stored in ASTs within a lined secondary containment area.There is also a 1,000 gallon propane
tank located to the north of the MFF.
Crusher Storage Areas(Primary and Secondary)(Figure 5 and Table 5)—hydraulic oil and lubricants are stored
either on a grate covered metal box over a concrete floor or within other secondary containment.
Adsorption Desorption Recovery(ADR-1) Plant(Figure 6 and Table 6a and Table 6b)—diesel fuel is stored in ASTs
outside to the east of the ADR-1 Plant. Process reagents are stored inside the building in multiple ASTs,varying in
storage capacity.
Process Solution Enhancement System(PSES) Facility(Figure 7 and Table 7)—Chemical (water treatment)
reagents include coagulants,flocculants, polymers, diatomaceous earth, and magnetite.The PSES uses chemicals
and reagents to treat and condition process water.
High Grade Mill(HGM) Building(Figure 8 and Table 8a and Table 8b)—diesel fuel and new and used grease and
oils are stored inside the HGM Building in ASTs and steel drums. Lime is collected west of the HGM building and
process chemicals are stored inside in varying sizes of ASTs.
Squaw Gulch Adsorption Desorption Recovery(ADR-2) Facility(Figure 9 and Table 9)—generators or located on
the northwest side of the ADR-2 building that contain diesel fuel. Inside the Facility, multiple process chemicals are
stored in varying sizes of ASTs.
------- ---_. .. -_-w-- -------- ---- - - ----- -------- ------I--- ----- --------- :- _ _ .
Department THIS DOCUMENT IS UNCONTROLLED IN HARDCOPY FORMAT 1930 Doc Id:NA- R-PLAN-
1930
