Curing Compounds <br /> Concrete curing compound shall be a clear compound complying with ASTM C 309, Type 1-D, <br /> Class A andB, such as "RES-X" by Burke, or an equivalent approved by CERTIFYING ENGINEER. <br /> 3. PART 3: EXECUTION <br /> 3.1. Structural Concrete <br /> Place structural concrete as shown on DRAWINGS. <br /> 3.2. Installation <br /> A. Ready-Mix Concrete shall be batched, transported, and placed in accordance with ASTM <br /> C94. Each batch delivered to the Site shall be accompanied by a certified weight <br /> master's deliveryticket. <br /> B. All mixed concrete delivered to the Site shall be placed within 90 minutes from the time <br /> of introduction of cement and water into the mix. <br /> C. No water shall be added after leaving the batch plant without the approval of <br /> CERTIFYING ENGINEER. <br /> D. Placement of concrete, once started, shall be performed as a continuous operation until <br /> the scheduled placement is completed. <br /> E. Cold joints shall be approved by CERTIFYING ENGINEER. <br /> F. Concrete shall be thoroughly compacted by vibrating with suitable tools during <br /> placement, aroundembedded fixtures, and into the corners of forms. <br /> G. Vibrators shall be operated at each point of placement and a standby vibrator in good <br /> working condition shall be kept at the placement site until all concrete is placed. <br /> Vibrators shall be used that will maintain at least 9,000 cycles per minute when <br /> immersed in the concrete. <br /> H. Vibrations shall be used only to minimize honeycomb and accomplish compaction of <br /> the concrete, and shall not be used to move concrete from one location to another. <br /> Concrete shall not be moved in the forms more than 5 feet. <br /> I. The surface of hardened concrete on which fresh concrete is to be placed shall be <br /> rough, clean, sound, and damp. The hardened surface shall be cleaned of all laitance, <br /> foreign substances, curing compound, washed with clean water, and wetted thoroughly <br /> preceding placement of fresh concrete. <br /> J. Secure tanks, pipes and other members to be encased in flowable fill. Insure that there <br /> are no exposed metallic pipes, conduits, or other items that will be in contact with <br /> the flowable fill after placement. If so, replace with non-metallic materials or apply <br /> manufacturers recommended coating to protect metallic objects before placing the <br /> Page 3 <br />
