ReecC!epption##: 926422 <br /> 1, 1121.19 04:47:03 PM Jean Alberioc <br /> 1 of 3 ec Fea:$0.00 Doc Fae:0.00 GAWIELD COUNTY CO <br /> STATE OF COLORADO ) <br /> )ss <br /> County of Garfield ) <br /> At a regular meeting of the Board of County Commissioners for Garfield County, <br /> Colorado, held in the Commissioners'Meeting Room, Garfield County Administration Building <br /> in Glenwood Springs on Monday,the 18th day of November A.D.2019,there were present: <br /> r <br /> John Martin , Commissioner Chairman <br /> Mike Samson :Commissioner <br /> Tom Jankovsky ,Co issioner <br /> Tari Williams Coty Attorney <br /> Jean Alberico , Clerk of the Board <br /> Kevin Batchelder , County Manager <br /> when the following proceedings, among others were had and done,to-wit: <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 20k9j-S13 <br /> A RESOLUTION TO ADOPT A TEMPORARY MORATORIUM ON THE <br /> ACCEPTANCE OF NEW OR AMENDED APPLICATIONS FOR GRAVEL AND <br /> MINING EXTRACTION IN GARFIELD COUNTY FOR A PERIOD OF SIX(6) <br /> MONTHS PENDING CONSIDERATION AND ADOPTION OF AMENDMENTS TO <br /> i THE LAND USE AND DEVELOPMENT CODE AS THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br /> MAY CONSIDER ADVISABLE TO PROMOTE PUBLIC HEALTH, SAFETY, <br /> WELFARE,AND TO CONSERVE AND PROTECT NATURAL RESOURCES AND <br /> ENVIRONMENTALLY SENSITIVE LANDS. <br /> WHEREAS,the Comprehensive Plan includes growth management goals designed to <br /> conserve and protect natural resources,agricultural,and environmentally sensitive lands; to <br /> conserve and preserve the rural character of the county;and to control development design in <br /> order to promote and enhance the physical appearance and rural character of the County; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Garfield County Land Use and Development Code(LUDC)is adopted-' <br /> to further the goals of the Comprehensive Plan;and <br /> WHEREAS,Garfield County includes a multitude of sensitive ecosystems,including <br /> riparian and wetlands resources, geothermal resources, wildlife habitat and important visual <br /> corridors,and there is a desire to ensure that regulations are in place so that future gravel and <br /> mining extraction development balances the need for economic development with policies to <br /> ensure minimum impact on sensitive environments; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Commission recognize that the outdoor recreation industry is an <br /> important part of the regional economy and the County recognizes that the industry is enhanced <br /> by (1)open space, scenic vistas and geothermal resources; (2)public trails and other recreational <br /> 1 <br /> 1 2 <br />
