J-1
EXHIBIT J
VEGETATION INFORMATION
Per Rule 6.4.10— Vegetation Information:
(1) The Operator/Applicant shall include in this Exhibit a narrative of the following items:
(a) A description of present vegetation types, which include quantitative estimates of cover and height
for the principal species in each life form represented(i.a, trees, tall shrubs, low shrubs, grasses,
forbs);
The Permit Area and surrounding area is comprised of relatively flat to gently rolling grazed grassland,
with elevations ranging from approximately 4,900 ft. amsl along the west edge of the Permit Area,
thereafter gently sloping to the east-northeast at a rate of about 50 ft.per mile to the centrally-located,
south to north trending Ennis Draw, and ephemeral drainage feature that is generally coincident with
the east line of Sections 12 and 1,respectively.
The Permit Area as a whole is drained by the Ennis Draw depression, which trends directly north for a
distance of about two miles, before terminating in the NW1/4 of Section 30; T3N; R63W. Several
wetland areas and/or features(with related wetland vegetation species)are present along, and generally
confined to,this corridor. as further defined below(refer also to Exhibit G:Water Information, and
more specifically, the therein contained Attachment G-2: Memorandum RE: Ennis Draw Wetland
Delineation.
East of Ennis Draw, the topography then ascends easterly to approximately 4,880 ft.amsl along a ridge
line that generally extends through the eastern half of Sections 7 and 6,respectively,before beginning
a gradual descent to the east, with the lowest point of the Permit Area being about 4,790 ft.amsl within
the extreme southeast corner of Section 5.
A vegetation and soils field investigation was conducted over the extent of the Permit Area, with each
section being divided into quarter sections, and sampling carried out at the approximate center of each
so-defined quarter section. Detailed discussion and field logs recording observations, sampling points,
and photographs are provided in the attached summary report provided as Appendix 1:Environmental
Resource Report;RETTEW;2019).
Keenesburg No. 2 Mine-112 Reclamation Operation—November 22, 2019
