Bond Estimate Prepared by South Park Ranger District.
Barbara Lee and Dad's Unpatented Mining Claims
Reclamation Bond Cost Summary—Bonding Proposal(Full Access)
In anticipation of approving the Plan of Operations for Jacob Ulrich and Brent Rovedo to operate for five years on
the Barbara Lee and Dad's Unpatented Mining Claims, a bond calculation has been prepared. The calculation has
taken into consideration,as per the Guide for Reclamation Bond Estimation and Administration, the maximum
amount of disturbance anticipated for their operations.
In order to fairly and equitably calculate the reclamation bond costs, the following assumptions have been made:
• Operator Jacob Ulrich will be following his Plan of Operations,as described.
• _
rising heavy equipiileiit. It was determined that heavy equipment will not be required.
• Cost estimates are based on Forest Service cost estimate guides and actual contractor bid estimates.
• Costs reflect a combination of equipment/material/personnel. Rates/sizes are approximate, not maximums.
• The area of disturbance estimated includes excavating-up-to-10 pits/trenches wither dimensions
of 8.5' x 8.5'x 6' or 434 bank cubic feet(BCF)or 4,340 BCF(cumulatively),not including topsoil and
waste rock spoil sites,or a maximum volume of 200 LCY per season.
• To convert bank cubic feet(BCF)to bank cubic yards(BCY),divide BCF by 27.
• To calculate loose cubic yards(LCY)from BCY,multiply BCY by the swell factor of the material
(decomposed granite).
• The Swell or Bulking factor of decomposed granite is 1.25 or 25%.
Imps: 'vN-ww.nre.gov,does Nil0807 NI L08070U31=1.pdf
• Definition of Swell or Bulking Factor-A cubic yard of earth measured in its natural position swells to
more than a cubic yard after it is excavated. This occurs because of an increase in voids. Swell or Bulk is
expressed as a percentage of natural volume.
• Total volumes for excavations are 200 LCY. Total dlaicaga i5. 0.016 dt.JC . Total acreage is .15
Pits/Trenches=200 LCY
• The 2-track non-system roads are estimated to be 7'wide by 1331' long(Barbara Lee)or 9,317 square
feet(SF)and 7'wide x 1489' long(Dads)or 10,423 square feet(SF). Cumulative dimensions=7'wide
x 2820' long. Total acreage is 0.21 (BL)+0.24(D)=0.45 acres.
• Water bars will be installed across access roads to minimize water erosion. 10 locations have been
identified on Barbara Lee and 5 on Dad's. Water bars will be constructed using heavy equipment.
Additional water bars may be necessary. water bars have been constructed, no heavy equipment was required.
• Total estimated disturbance is 0.45 acres(roads) !.! . . _ . . • , – !., :. !., . _
• Crystal Creek seed mix will be used on site(recommended mix attached). .45 acres + .15 acres = .6 acres
• Seeding rate is 25 lbs/acre. For 0.47 acres(excavations+road), 12 lbs of seed will be needed.
• Leave No Trace standards are the basis for the reclamation work.
• Mobilization costs assume equipment will be coming from Colorado Springs, Colorado.
• Direct Costs are based upon the details of the reclamation work outlined in the Plan of Operations.
• Indirect Costs are those fees and charges over and above the direct reclamation costs. Indirect costs
include contingency costs for the operation, along with the costs of reclamation management
(supervision), and/or administration (inspection).
