Compliance With Mine Plan N - Support Facilities Not On-site <br /> N - Other N - Special Categories Of Mining <br /> R -Processing Waste N -Topsoil <br /> COMMENTS <br /> This was a complete inspection by Leigh Simmons of the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety(Division). <br /> Ed Ogrodny of Mountain Coal Company(MCC) accompanied the inspection. The weather was clear and dry. The <br /> mine was active. <br /> AVAILABILITY OF RECORDS—Rule 5.02.4(1): <br /> Records were available in the mine office. Details are given at the end of this report. <br /> GENERAL MINE PLAN COMPLIANCE: <br /> The longwall was in the E8 panel,between cross-cuts 9 and 10 on the E8 head gate. <br /> Development miners were working on the final section of the SS 1 tail gate (from cross cut 19 to the start line). <br /> No progress past cross cut 22 had been made on the Sunset Mains South. <br /> PROCESSING WASTE/COAL MINE WASTE PILES—Rule 4.10 and 4.11 <br /> Drainage Control; Surface Stabilization; Placement: <br /> Pond cleanings were being mixed with drier material from the temporary waste pile on the RPE and then <br /> transported to the RPEE. In addition to spreading the new material, contractors on the RPEE were using stripped <br /> subsoil to raise the grade of the haul road at the entrance to the waste pile. Work was in progress to finalize the <br /> design of the crossing point. <br /> SUPPORT FACILITIES - Rule 4.04: <br /> A selection of Mine Ventilation Boreholes (MVBs) on the E-7 and E-8 panels were inspected: E7-1 <br /> through-7 and E8-5 through-8. <br /> • Contractors from D and S Underground of Hotchkiss, CO were spreading topsoil on E7-1 using a dozer <br /> and a trackhoe. Grass seed and straw mulch were being spread by hand. <br /> • E7-3, -5 and-7 had been plugged and abandoned, and had been scheduled to be reclaimed earlier in the <br /> summer, (a mechanical failure on the contractor's equipment had delayed activity by several weeks). <br /> There was evidence of previous uncontrolled runoff on E7-5, (possibly the result of subsidence changing <br /> Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 2 <br /> Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 2 <br /> Page 2of19 <br />
