NEWMONT
GOLDCORP
materials will maintain sufficient transmissivity to provide active drainage towards
the downstream Pregnant Storage Solution Area (PSSA).
Although test results were slightly outside of the values set forth in the Technical
Specifications, the material meet the intent of the design and were approved by the
Certifying Engineer during construction.
The "Project Deviations" section of the ROC report has been updated to capture
these omissions.
Additionally, Table 8 has been revised to: Remove the note "Sample numbers
NFLDF-1-R through NFLDF-3-R (not shown in table) were submitted in previous
Certification Reports",as this is not applicable to this table, and corrected the USCS
Soil Identification of sample NFDCF-8-R to be GP-GC.
5. Table 8 — CQA Earthworks Testing Summary — Drain Cover Fill. Sample Numbers
NFDCF-8-R, NFDCF-II-R, and NFDCF-I3-R have a Grain Size Distribution - Percent
Passing of the No. 200 Sieve Size, greater than 8. Within 2.1 of the Earthworks Technical
Specifications, the Percent Passing by Dry Weight of the No. 200 Sieve Size for Drain
Cover Fill is 0 - 8. The Record of Construction Report states, within Section 3.2.4 Drain
Cover Fill, that a total of seven DCF samples were tested with passing results.Additionally,
as noted in Table 8, Sample Numbers NFDCF-8-R, NFDCF-II-R, and NFDCF-I3-R were
approved by the Engineer of Record. Within Appendix H.4 - Drain Cover Fill Laboratory
Test Results, the lab results show these three samples had greater than 8 Percent Passing
of the No. 200 Sieve Size. Please address why these three samples were approved with
an exceedance of the Technical Specifications.
Similar to the previous comment, although the particle size distribution for a few
select record tests of the DCF were outside the acceptable range, the materials were
reviewed during construction and approved by the Certifying Engineer as they met
the design intent and allowed by Section 2.1 of the Earthworks Technical
Specification (Section 02200.0).
Drawings:
6. Soil Liner Fill Asbuilt, Sheet Nos. 1. 2. and 3: The legend does not identify the X with the
number next to it. Presumably this is a sequential survey point number. Regardless, these
should be identified in the legend on each as-built drawing. Please submit updated
drawings.
The enclosed As-Built drawing has been updated.
7. High Volume Collection Pipe Asbuilts. Sheet Nos. 1. 2, and 3: The legend does not identify
the X with the number next to it. Presumably this is a sequential survey point number.
