October 9, 2019 C-1981-008/New Horizon Mine JHB
solely a result of spoil water.
Pond 16 was dry, vegetation is becoming established on the inslopes.
Pond 15 was dry. The ditch to Pond 15 was in good condition.
The NW corner of the SAE from the Morgan property was dry a with no gully formation in this location. No
evidence of offsite sediment was noted from this area.
Pond 18 was dry. Although ERMR staff had recently conducted an extensive noxious weed control effort for
Tamarisk and Russian olive,we located number of young tamarisk and Russian olive sprouts around the Pond 18
area. ERMR immediately dug these plants out, and will continue to monitor the area as part of their weed
management plan.
A new bond release application has been submitted to the Division for success on the reclaimed ditch 18 area.
This former sedimentation structure has been reclaimed to irrigated pasture. The water was off,but the vegetation
in the irrigated swath appears well established. This swath of grass has not been cut since the water was shut off.
Ditches and ponds throughout the site appear to be functioning well, and in good condition moving towards winter
months.
REVEGETATION—Rule 4.15
Vegetative Cover; Timing:
ERMR continues to be diligent on weed control. They have been putting in a concerted effort to eliminate
tamarisk and Russian olive when to find it. They have cut down large olive trees and dig up smaller olives and
tamarisk when they are encountered. When we encountered tamarisk along the bottom of Pond 18, Frank and
Cliff Chiles dug them up immediately.
Many of the fields have been cut in the area. The irrigation water has been shut off, so farmers are in the process
of getting the last crops in.
DOCUMENTS RECEIVED NA
OTHER(SPECIFY) NA
ENFORCEMENT ACTIONS/COMPLIANCE
No enforcement actions were initiated as a result of this inspection, nor are any pending.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 2
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 2
Page 3 of 6
