Mr. Jordan McCourt accompanied the
inspection and represented GCC. The weather was mild and dry with a light wind.
AIR RESOURCE PROTECTION—Rule 4.17:
Coal dust is blowing from the clean coal stockpile at the air jig. This dust drifts onto the southern end of
topsoil stockpile#2. The inspector and GCC representative,Jordan, discussed potential methods to protect the
topsoil resource,Rule 4.06.3(2). Should a proposed solution require construction or reconfiguration of the storage
area,a technical revision would be necessary. Coal dust was also drifting into the adjacent undisturbed area to the
north and east of the air jig.
The temporary coal mine waste storage area at King I was also dusty. This area is actively being transported up to
the top of the refuse pile. During the inspection a water truck was on site and spraying the top of the pile. The
Water truck operator stated that he would spray the road and the work area,but was waiting until the vehicles were
off, due to concerns of making the roadways too slick. It was noted that the buildup of refuse on the roadway
would be scraped up to get down to the road,to reduce the dust and loose condition. This is acceptable. GCC
needs to stay ahead of the dusty conditions.
AVAILABILITY OF RECORDS—Rule 5.02.4(1):
Records were verified in the mine office. "Availability of Records"form is attached to the end of this
report.
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE -Rule 4.05
Drainage Control 4.05.1,4.05.2,4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5,4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7,4.05.10;
Diversions 4.05.4; Impoundments 4.05.6,4.05.9:
The inspection commenced around the perimeter on the King II facilities area, observing the perimeter
ditch and internal ditches,pond 1, culverts, and drainage throughout the facilities area.
CWD-1 A was in good condition,free of debris and no obvious deposits of sediment. Culvert C 18 (Map King II-
007A)was clear and in good repair. Culvert C 17,just east of the rock dust silo,inlet is partially crushed.
