Newmont Mining Corporation ■■
Cripple Creek&Victor Gold Mine ■
VLF2 Phase 2 CQA
NewFields Job No.475.0106.032
Week Ending Saturday,June 8,2019
1.0 EARTHWORKS
1.1 Underground Working Remediation
No activity during this reporting period
1.2 Structural Fill
Structural fill placement continued within the VLF2 Phase 2 footprint. NewFields personnel
inspected fill material and observed placement and compaction procedures to ensure that they
were in accordance with the project technical specifications. Ambient and fill material
temperatures were monitored and recorded during fill placement to ensure that no frozen
material was placed or compacted in the area. The following structural fill construction
activities occurred during the shift:
Slope rough grading (cut to fill) in areas at bench stations:
o K23+00 to K30+00
o Haul Road 54+00 to 60+00
Articulating haul trucks were used to haul oversized and unsuitable material away to an
area of waste
Compaction of structural fill was achieved using a vibratory sheepsfoot compactor
1.3 Subgrade
No additional areas of Subgrade were accepted during the reporting period. Figure 2 shows the
current areas of accepted subgrade.
1.4 Soil Liner Fill
SLF placement was performed in the areas shown on Figure 3. Subgrade was approved and
moisture conditioned and compacted (when required) prior to SLF placement. SLF material was
hauled to the Phase 2 VLF from the Dump 1 stockpile using articulating haul trucks. The
material was then spread with low ground pressure CAT dozers equipped with GPS. Moisture
conditioning of SLF material was performed in place using a water truck, and compaction was
achieved using a 19-ton vibratory smooth drum compactor. Moisture content verification,
nuclear density testing, and depth verification were performed, with results meeting the
required project technical specifications, prior to accepting the surface for geomembrane
installation. All test locations were surveyed.
SLF processing continued at the Dump 1 processing plant.
Page 2
