No additional areas of Subgrade were accepted during the reporting
period. Figure 2 shows the current areas of accepted subgrade.
1.4 Soil Liner Fill
SLF placement was performed in the areas shown on Figure 3. Subgrade was approved and
moisture conditioned and compacted (when required) prior to SLF placement. SLF material was
hauled to the Phase 2 VLF from the Dump 1 stockpile using articulating haul trucks. The
material was then spread with low ground pressure CAT dozers equipped with GPS. Moisture
conditioning of SLF material was performed in place using a water truck, and compaction was
achieved using a 19-ton vibratory smooth drum compactor. Moisture content verification,
nuclear density testing, and depth verification were performed, with results meeting the
required project technical specifications, prior to accepting the surface for geomembrane
installation. All test locations were surveyed.
SLF processing continued at the Dump 1 processing plant.
1.5 Leak Detection Trench
The leak detection trench connecting the existing Phase 1 trench with the Phase 2A trench was
constructed and completed in accordance with project drawings and technical specifications.
NewFields personnel monitored all leak detection trench construction activity.
2.0 GEOSYNTHETICS
2.1 Geomembrane Installation
Geomembrane installation continued within the Phase 2A limits shown on Figure 4.
Approximately 192,671 square feet (P-2546 to P-2603) of 80-mil LLDPE (double sided texture)
was deployed.
