Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
To: Clayton Wein
From: Zach Trujillo
CC: Jason Musick
Date: October 7, 2019
Re: Deserado Mine TR-72 RCE
As requested, I have performed a Reclamation Cost Estimate (RCE) update for the
Deserado Mine (Deserado) Technical Revision No. 72 (TR-72). The total value of this
estimate is $644,078.00 (see attached cost estimate). The primary costs with this revision
come from the haul and regrade scraper tasks for topsoil and subsoil. Volumes for these
tasks were calculated using the footprint of the RP-A final configuration and required
topsoil(12 inches) and subsoil (18 inches) depths for refuse piles as required by Deserado's
PAP found on Section V.,page V-26. Additionally, to ensure enough subsoil and topsoil are
available for the reclamation of RP-A, a volume comparison was done between required
volumes and provided volumes shown on Map 162. All volumes necessary as required by
Deserado's PAP has been met for TR-72.
The Division holds a performance bond in the amount of$5,840,257.00 for the Deserado
Mine. Deserado Mine's current Required Liability is $5,815,257.00. With the amount
calculated for the Deserado Mine TR-72 of$644,078.00,the Division will require
$619,078.00 of additional bond monies to ensure completion of reclamation at the
Deserado Mine in the event the work had to be performed by the Division.
This concludes my review of Deserado Mine's TR-72 RCE.
