What is the revised volume of dryland seed mix to be applied?Any additional undisturbed acreage
within phase 4. Response:The previous reclamation plan specified the pounds per acre of seed mix
that will be used but did not quantify the total volume of seed. The additional seeded slopes of have
been added to the current Exhibit E with a range of additional volume of seed required for
reclamation.
(iii) An outline of the sequence in which each stage or phase of reclamation will be carried out.
(The schedule need not be separate and distinct from the Reclamation Plan,but may be
incorporated therein.)
(0(ii) Seeding- specify types,mixtures, quantities, and expected time(s) of seeding and planting;
Since drill seeding is to be used, please give the PLS/Ac rate for each species at the drill rate rather
than a percentage of the total broadcast pounds to be applied.
The Division is interpreting the seeding rate for the wetlands areas as already having been doubled
the drill see rate, is this correct?
Response: The previous reclamation plan specified the pounds per acre of seed mix that will be used
but did not quantify the total volume of seed. The additional seeded slopes of have been added to the
current Exhibit E with a range of additional volume of seed required for reclamation. The rate of
application will remain the same.
Per the previous reclamation plan,the wetlands areas will broadcast seeded at twice the rate of drill
seeding added to Exhibit for AM-1 area.
(iii) Fertilization - if applicable, specify types, mixtures, quantities and time of application;
Will any be used in either the dryland or wetland areas? If so please specify the type,rate and
application method.
Exhibit L (Pg L-3 #5) references fertilizer use in the dryland areas.
Fertilizing was mentioned in the final reclamation cost estimate of the previous application but not
specified in the reclamation plan methods. Fertilizing is not proposed in this AM-1 reclamation plan
and clarified in Exhibit.
(iv) Revegetation - specify types of trees, shrubs, etc., quantities,size and location; and
5 additional cottonwoods will be planted. How many trees in the previous phase were planted vs.
how many still remain? E-1 #5 only references a replacement rate, not what was actually present.
Vertical spacing relative to water is specified but not horizontal placement, distance between trees.
Will they be evenly distributed or in clumps? Response: 7 trees are removed by mining activities,
therefore 7 cotton wood saplings will be planted,spaced at 70 foot horizontal spacing, not in clumps.
