The inspector checked in with Basil Bear of <br /> Bowie Resources, LLC. Basil was scheduled to spray weeds at at the upper areas,vent pads, light use roads, so he <br /> did not accompany the inspection. The inspector checked out with Art at the end of the inspection. <br /> The weather was clear and dry, cool in the morning,but heating up quickly as the morning progressed. <br /> FISH and WILDLIFE—Rule 4.18: <br /> Two mule deer bucks were observed in the Coal Storage area. Both bucks had damaged antlers. Both <br /> were in velvet. One young mule deer buck was observed on the far east end of Gob pile 2. <br /> HYDROLOGIC BALANCE -Rule 4.05 <br /> Drainage Control 4.05.1,4.05.2,4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5,4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, 4.05.10; <br /> Diversions 4.05.4; Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18: <br /> Ditches throughout the mine site are functioning appropriately. The mine is drying out. No ponds were <br /> discharging at the time of the inspection,nor did it appear likely that any had discharged in the recent past. <br /> Pond B was mostly dry but has a small puddle in the bottom. Vegetation on the embankments was good. <br /> Pond F was holding a cloudy pool of water well below discharge elevation. <br /> Pond D was dry. The south embankment of pond D had quite a few Russian knapweed established within the <br /> alfalfa. Russian knapweed was also encountered in the ditch feeding into the east end of Pond D. <br /> Pond C was holding a shallow pool of cloudy water well below the discharge elevation. <br /> PROCESSING WASTE/COAL MINE WASTE PILES—Rule 4.10 and 4.11 <br /> Drainage Control; Surface Stabilization; Placement: <br /> BRL continues to rework Gob pile#3. As the stored material dries, BRL continue to blend material into <br /> the western compacted section, and grade and compact the next segment of the pile.
